What does the IBO offer ?
The IBO develops three programmes of international education for students aged 3 to 19 , working in cooperation with IB world school .
-The three programmes span the years of kindergarten to pre-university . The programmes can be offered individually or as a continuum.
1- The primary years programme (PYP) for pupils aged 3 to 12.
2- The middle years programme (MYP) for students aged 11 to 16
3- The diploma programme for students aged 16 to 19
What does the Diploma programme curriculum contain ?
-The core requirements _theory of knowledge (TOK)
-The interdisciplinary TOK course is designed to provide coherence by
A- exploring the nature of knowledge across disciplines.
B- encouraging an appreciation of other cultural perspectives.
-The core requirements-Creativity,action,service (CAS)
-participation in the school's CAS programme:
A- encourages students to be involved in artistic pursuits, sports and community service work
B- fosters students' awareness and appreciation of life outside the academic arena
Group 1 : mother language (Arabic language and literature HL
Group 2 : Two foreign language (English B HL and SL)
(German ab initio )
Group 3 : The study of individuals in society
1-History (HL and SL)
2-Buisness management (HL and SL)
Group 4 : Experimental sciences
1-Biology (HL and SL)
2-physics (HL and SL)
3-chemistry (HL and SL)
-Choose 6 subjects, either 1 subject from each group or 2 from group 1 and 1 from groups 3 to 6
-make sure you have 3 subjects at HL and 3 subjects at SL
Grading in IB
A full diploma consists of 45 points.
Each subject is graded 1 - 7
1 = very poor 2 = poor 3 = mediocre
4 = satisfactory 5 = good 6 = very good
7 = excellent
Additional points are awarded for Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge 0 to + 3
Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge are graded A to E
2A`s = + 3 points
A + B = + 3 points
2B`s = + 2 points
An I.B. Diploma is obtained by:
Offering one subject from each of the groups
3 subjects from Higher Level
3 subjects from Standard Level
Submitting an EXTENDED ESSAY in one of the subjects in the IB curriculum. - 4000 words
Following a THEORY OF KNOWLEDGE course.
Engaging in CAS activities representing Creativity, Activity and Service.
